Never too late for love

Dodano: 14.05.2015

This past weekend, we celebrated a very exceptional wedding. How often does a Bride get to have her children, grandparents and parents be part of her big day?

For Katie, this dream came true. Not less exceptional was the Groom’s reunion with his family and friends, 30 years after the former member of the Polish track&field national team fled from the Communist regime to seek a better life in the USA. It was Darek’s great wish to return to the Tatra mountains, which he had remembered all these years as the quintessence of everything Polish and beautiful.

The celebrations began with a relaxed barbecue on Friday evening, the mountains majestic and proud, soaked in sunlight – a dream setting. On the wedding day however, skies got cloudy and for a moment there our outdoor ceremony seemed threatened. Fortunately our determination got rewarded – we moved the whole setting indoors and outdoors again and eventually the rain stopped, allowing these two exceptional individuals to say their “I dos” under the sky and with a glorious view on Poland’s best known peak – the Giewont. The “red brick & sky blue” theme complemented the rustic venue in local highlanders’ style. Katie wore a vintage dress, originally from the 1930s. This wedding was unique bit by bit.

Darek has ran the marathon 9 times so far in his life, but his greatest marathon seems finished now, reunited with friends and family and married to his beloved Katie. We wish them a long future together and many more amazing stories to tell.
